Akshar Birbal is representing South Africa at the Mister Supranational pageant set to be held in Poland on Sunday 22 August.
Here are five things to know about the South African hopeful.
1. HE IS A LEGAL PRACTITIONER
Akshar Birbal graduated with a Bachelor of Law (LLB) degree in 2018 and according to his LinkedIn, he currently serves as a candidate attorney at Pravda and Knowles Attorneys.
“Given the social and political background that my country has faced in the past, it has always been a dream of mine to make a difference in society. I have chosen to practice in the field of law and this has allowed me to play my part in bringing justice to the people of South Africa,” said Birbal in a video posted to his Instagram.
2. HE IS 25 YEARS OLD
Akshar Birbal is 25-years-old, born and raised in the sunny city of Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.
3. HE IS A PROFESSIONAL MODEL
According to the legal practitioner’s Instagram, he has been a professional model for the last five years. He was also crowned as a Mr India South Africa Life Ambassador in 2018.
4. HE IS AN ACTIVIST
The 25-year-old is an advocate against domestic abuse and Gender-Based Violence (GBV). He specialised in the field of family law and uses his Instagram platform to provide his followers and others with legal knowledge, such as how to apply for a protection order.
“With the rise in GBV and abuse in domestic relationships in our country, I believe that citizens should seek the assistance of the justice system opposed to suffering in silence,” wrote Birbal on Instagram.
5. HE IS A FITNESS JUNKIE
The model loves maintaining a healthy lifestyle and keeping fit which is a lifestyle inspired by his grandfather, who was a professional bodybuilder.
While Akshar Birbal is representing South Africa for Mr Supranational, Miss SA first runner-up, Thato Mosehle is representing SA for the Miss Supranational pageant.
Just like Miss Supranational SA, Thato Mosehle, Akshar Birbal is also sharing a room with the US Supranational hopeful. Mosehle recently taught her roommate, Miss Supranational USA some South African lingo!
“Could not have asked for a better roommate to share my Supra journey with than Mister United States of America! ????,” wrote Birbal on Instagram.
