This is how South Africans are remembering the award winning rapper, GQ cover star, Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and former GQ’s Best Dressed award winner Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane.

The duo was gunned down last weekend at a renowned establishment in KwaZulu Natal as AKA was leaving the establishment to go to another venue to perform.

AKA and Tibz died on the scene while his security who is believed to have been with him when they were shot narrowly survived and is recovering in hospital.

    What you need to know:

The memorial for the South African gamechanger, entertainment entrepreneur, seasoned chef and celebrated author ‘Tibz’ took place at a special send-off ceremony on Thursday, 16th February 2023 at Sacred Heart College in Observatory, Johannesburg.

Close friends, family and select media gathered for the special tribute which was broadcast live-and streamed on social media platforms.

His funeral will take place at a private ceremony over the weekend.

The Motsoane family are deeply moved by the national outpouring of love and support over the past few days.

Today, all eyes are on the commemoration of AKA who is widely regarded as a pioneer in the Southern African country’s hip-hop scene.

AKA, died before he dropped his fifth album Mass country which would still be released on February 24.

He was born in 1988. In 2002, Forbes, alongside his two friends Vice Versa and Greyhound, formed a hip hop group called Entity.

The group received a nomination for a KORA Award in the Best African Hip Hop category. Entity disbanded in 2006 and Forbes went on to study sound engineering.

Forbes later co-founded the production collective The I.V League alongside two other members. The I.V League made production credits for several artists, including Khuli Chana, ProKid and JR to mention just a few.

In 2009, he released three singles: “In My Walk”, “I Do”, and “Mistakes” which continue to be some of the anthems he is remembered by today.

Here is where how to watch his send-off:

The public broadcaster, through its SABC1 channel will air AKA’s memorial. The channel will carry out a live broadcast of the Memorial Service of the late AKA at 15:00.

The late rapper’s service will also be streamed on various streaming platforms, other TV stations, including his social media pages.

Here is where you can stream:

Rest in peace, BHOVA & King 🖤.
