In fulfillment of FIFA’s commitment to develop football in Liberia, a team of FIFA experts is expected to arrive in the country on February 15, 2023 to assist with the training of women’s football clubs in the area of club licensing.
The club licensing workshop for clubs in the upper division will be held on 16 February, while a capacity-building seminar for administrators in the lower, upper, community, and regional divisions will be held on 17 February.
This latest development according to a LFA release comes after the launch of the talent development scheme in December 2022 which was funded by FIFA with a support of US$50,000.
African football is set to embark on a new era, with greater investment in football development and the chance for more teams to shine on the global stage, FIFA president Gianni Infantino told a workshop for African Member Associations.
Member Associations, including Liberia that is being represented by Liberia Football Association (LFA) president, Mustapha Raji and General Secretary, Atty. Kollie Dorko, who are currently in Paris, France for a two-day FIFA tactical planning workshop to prepare the African members for the upcoming cycle of the FIFA Forward 3.0 program.
Speaking at the opening of the two-day event in Paris, the FIFA president further stressed the importance of finding ways of encouraging more players to remain in Africa to exercise their profession.
Gianni Infantino said that the decision to expand the FIFA World Cup to 48 teams, with nine guaranteed spots for CAF as opposed to the previous five, would have knock-on effects in encouraging investment.
Furthermore, LFA president, Mustapha Raji also managed to secure additional opportunities through networking with other Member Associations.
