For the upcoming 2023 All-Star Game halftime show, the National Basketball Association (NBA) is going global. This year, the league has chosen Burna Boy, Tems, and Rema to lead an Afrobeats-themed performance on February 19, Sunday night in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The three Nigerian superstars, Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and record producer Burna Boy, 2023 Grammy Award-winning singer and Oscar-nominated singer and producer Tems and rapper and singer Rema, are looking forward to their performances.
Post Malone, along with the trio of Afrobeats stars, will open the show with a medley of hits. The National Anthem will be performed by Jewel, and Fast and Furious star Vin Diesel will lead the player introductions for the newly named NBA All-Stars.
According to an NBA statement, following the performance, the NBA family will honour LeBron James for becoming the league’s all-time scoring leader.
In 2022, the NBA recruited DJ Khaled to perform at the halftime show, and he brought out Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, Mary J. Blige, Migos, Gunna, and Lil Baby.
Watch the Oscar-nominated song ‘Lift Me Up,’ written by Tems for Rihanna, from the soundtrack of Marvel’s “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”
