Kiernan AKA Forbes’ family, has released a trailer of his posthumous album, Mass County, and have confirmed the release date will remain February 24.
AKA and his friend Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane died near a renowned restaurant in KwaZulu Natal on February 10, after being shot as they were leaving the eatery to go to another venue to perform.
The Mass Country trailer drop comes as the rappers fourth single from the album titled, “Company” featuring long-time friend and Nigerian record producer Kiddominant is making waves on various streaming platforms.
Kiddominant had previously featured on AKA’s song “Fela In Versace”, which became a hit trending on several radio stations and TV, becoming one of the top played songs at the time.
AKA’s “Mass Country” become a worldwide trend and one of the most anticipated albums of the century even before the rapper was killed in a senseless drive by shooting early this month.
The rapper had continuously offered new teases to his fans and hinting upon a new release every week in the build-up of his new album. Raphael Benza of Vth Season within AKA’s management says, “Kiernan worked very hard on this project.
“The energy and the expectations from the Megacy fuelled him to make a masterpiece. We are delighted, even at our saddest moment, to share the music he left behind for us for eternity…Long Live, Supa Mega, Live Long!! The world will never forget AKA and that’s a promise.”
Nivo, who the manager and Co-Executive Producer of “Mass Country” shares that the team was extremely blessed to work so closely on this project with Kiernan.
“We spent a lot of time mapping out this roll-out and creating all the content we have under his direction. Kiernan worked tremendously hard on this project.
“He put his heart and soul into it, and we were blessed that he got the opportunity to map out this entire roll-out and approve all the elements, so what will be coming out will be as per his direction and his vision. We thank the Forbes family for their faith in the entire team working on this project.”
Sony Music Entertainment Africa’s managing director has also shared his expressions of grief while also passing condolences messages to fans and the family.
He said, “Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones as we all traverse this difficult time of mourning the loss of a dearly beloved and respected artist. Our hearts are broken.
“All of us at Sony Music convey our deepest sympathies and condolences to his family, friends, the Megacy, and South Africa”.
AKA’s team at The Vth Season, The T Effect, and Sony Music Entertainment Africa will take control in the roll-out of the rapper’s album, with the support and blessings of the family in the celebration of the Supa Mega’s gifted talents in music.
The rapper was buried at a private ceremony over the weekend.
